Paradise di Altobello "Lisa" finished on the 17th of february IPO III with great results and we are very proud and glad with how well Silvia her trainer has done with her. The arrival of this fun and energetic female is getting closer and we expect her home after IDC in Sweden this summer. So we will be pretty busy when she will arrive and are looking quite forward to it.
We are also glad to say that Aegishjalms Galdurs Thengill "Gutti" has finished a course in obedience level 1 at the dogschool Hundalif and did very well. He was the youngest dog at the course and did just as well as the older dogs and in an exam at the courses end he managed to have first grade which is considered to be very good results for such a young dog. We congratulate Bjarni his owner and are looking forward to watch them in the future as they are very active in working together and have much fun while doing so. |

Last Nikos di Altobello "Nikos" is finally home. This has been a difficult task getting this young dog home and fortunately his traveling days are over.
We started our trip to the northern part of Iceland were the quarantine station is located on Thursday morning and what an adventure. On the way the weather turned very bad and when we arrived to Oxnadalsheidi that's this mountain road it turned out that the road had been closed but we as true Icelanders ignored all warnings and went ahead and what a ride.
When we arrived on the road there was a big truck that had driven of the road and was turned over on the side of the road and you could hardly see anything because of severe snowstorm but with careful driving and patience we made it. After a quick stop in Akureyri that is the biggest town up north we went to Arskogsstrond to pick up our boy. Kristinn the caretaker of the quarantine station was so nice to come with Nikos in the ferry from Hrisey and what a joy to finally have him with us.
On our way back home we had lots of trouble. We had to wait for over 3 hours at the edge of Oxnadalsheidi since it was closed and it didn't seem that it would be opened any time soon. But we were lucky that a snowplow was located there waiting to be able to go on the hill and finally the journey started again with the snowplow first in line and some crazy travelers following.
The trip over steep mountain road went unbelievably well even if we could hardly see anything and it was like that all the way to the second difficult mountain road on our way called Holtavorduheidi. We were very glad to see that the road wasn't closed but that didn't last long since the view was even worse then before and we could not even see the road at times. We drove off the road a couple of times and things were not looking that good at all. Nikos was unbelievably calm in all this hassle and behaved like a true champ. We ended up with driving in line with two other cars and the trip went really slowly since the average speed was 10-15 km/p, hour but down we got, fortunately.
The rest of the trip went well in-spite of icy roads and snowstorms and sometime around 03:00 clock Friday morning after 19 hours journey we were finally at home. Nikos was very glad to get home and have some food and take a look at the other dogs of the household.
Ahead are exciting times and hopefully Nikos will adjust well and be a great joy in our lives.
With regards Karen

One year ago seven puppies were born from our female Fanta di Altobello "Lina". With this litter our breeding started and also the most fun and challenging project that we have ever participated in.
It's amazing how time flies and in the last 12 months the puppies with their new owners have done many fun things together and enjoyed life to the fullist. We think ourselfs to be very fortunate with the families that the puppies got and are ever gratetful for still beeing able to keep in touch with those young and happy dogs. So happy birthday to the puppies and their owners. The first picture was taken when they were 8 days old and the second one from an obedience exercise taken this winter.
With best regards Unnar Mar and Karen

Last Nikos di Altobello "Nikos" |
|
mánudagur, 07 janúar 2008 |
Finally Nikos arrived to Iceland today and what a relief since everything has been so complicated since the delays of the opening of the quarantine. The trip from Denmark went very well and everything went according to plan. He will spend the next 30 days in quarantine in Hrisey, to be exact in Hvatastadir and we have already heard from Kristinn the owner of Hvatastadir and Nikos is doing very well.
For us Last Nikos di Altobello is very important and we are very greatfull to his previous owner Charlotte for entrusting us for him. The next weeks the wait will be difficult but also exciting until we can pick him up.
There are a lot of new pictures in the gallery taken on the second day of christmas so check them out.
Until next Karen |
